Fisher Island holds the wealthiest zip code in America, data shows
When it comes to money, the people of Fisher Island have loads to spare—so much that it’s considered the richest zip code in America.
This accomplishment is a huge jump from its fourth place slot two years ago.
In 2015, zip code 33109 boasts an average income of $2.5 million per person, says Bloomberg data.
One factor to the Miami neighborhood’s wealth is that its tax laws attract people with a considerable amount of money that need tax breaks.
Bloomberg’s data says $448,100 is a typical amount in itemized deductions for each resident of the tiny island in 2015.
Many celebrities have called Fisher Island their home including Oprah Winfrey, Mel Brooks, and Andre Agassi.
To put it into perspective, the typical resident has an income of over $200,000 annually.
